The Venetian watchtower is located three kilometers in the south of Xylofagou, at the highest point of Akrotiri Pylas, some 100 meters higher from the sea. A range of steep rocks does not allow directed access to the sea.
The view is panoramic and majestic. The visitor will enjoy the great variety of wild plans and flowers.
The watchtower has a round shape with its based slightly bigger than the rest of it.
In 1870 the American Ambassador to Cyprus Censola secured a firman from the Sultan of Turkey allowing him to conduct excavations anywhere in the whole of Cyprus. His excavations in this area brought to light traces of chariot wheels from the Roman era.
Censola describes the tower as merely observation post dating back to the years before the Lusignians.
